What web design software should I use?
I’m creating a website for my boss’s real estate business as a favor. I’ve already bought hosting and created a domain for his site from BlueHost. I need web design software, preferably a free download, that isn’t all too difficult to understand. This is all new to me.
Please help… Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!
Also, I’ve downloaded FileZilla as my FTP… Idk if the software has to be compatible with this program.
Wow! Great information!!! Thank you to everyone who answered!
Ugh, don’t use Dreamweaver, ever. It’s huge, bloated, and unnecessary.
Anything worth doing is worth doing right. You’ll go a lot further if you take the time to learn HTML and CSS the right way: by doing it yourself. Don’t ever rely on a WYSIWYG to do it for you. You’re just making more work for yourself in the long run.
Having said that, everything you need to design and develop a site can be done with all free tools, and yes, Filezilla is a nice free FTP client that you can use to upload your files to the web host.
Apart from that, you’ll just need a decent text editor. If you’re using windows (and I am assuming you are), use Notepad++. No, I didn’t say Notepad, I said Notepad++ (link in the source section below.)
I’ve also included some more links to some free apps that you can use to develop sites and learn the basics.
I’ll update this post with maybe some more links in the future, but this should be enough to get you started for now.
Good luck!
